By leaving our homes we become vulnerable participants of unpredictable happenings created by those around us. The things we see and hear may influence our mood. The participants of my project eliminate one of their senses from surrounding world. This way they take control over their emotions and do not let others to affect it.
I frequently attended places where people tend to wear earphones on a daily basis, in a city based busy environment. I also approached other environments where people tend not to wear earphones, in more isolated soothing locations. By observing passers- by I tried to spot people whose faces stood out of crowd.
The portraits were made asking them to think about the music that they hear, thereby trying to capture the state of their mind, capturing what they feel when they are listening their favorite music.
The background in pictures is the environment that surrounds them and is the reminder that they are still part of this world.
Someone’s personal taste in music is just one more thing that makes him or her unique. To them their favorite music could be energizing and gratifying while others might think it is not. I believe that this is what makes everyone’s personality so different. It gives energy into their lifestyle. The energy what they consume is what they reflect.
